After a warm response to the release of Ella Ion's debut album 'Waiting' (10 March via P.A.K. Records), Ella and her band will be performing the entire release in full joined by specials guests Nuclear Family and Blush (solo)

The writing process for Waiting began in 2019 on a trip to America, where Ion was sparked with inspiration in a tiny L.A apartment to begin writing pieces of music that would reveal fragments of the deep transformation she felt as a young female artist affected by the magnitude of a place like Los Angeles. Back home in Adelaide, Ion experienced a profound shift as she delved into spirituality that turned her views of the world upside-down.

Waiting has a way of conveying the intense growing pains that come naturally in one’s early 20s; themes of deep longing, harsh introspection, questioning and uncertainty embellish the album, with an overall feeling of “identity crisis”, still, however, leaving the listener with the sweet aftertaste of hopefulness and innocent curiosity about the world around them. Waiting draws on Ion’s main stylistic influences of post rock, folk and country, and ranges from soft and melodic to dissonant and heavy pieces (for fans of Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, Chelsea Wolfe).
